Smashing Pumpkins Are Planning Reunion Tour

Smashing Pumpkins Planning Reunion, But…

It bothers me a great deal when a band that I love announces a reunion tour, but it turns out that it isn’t really a reunion because they leave out an original member or two. Or, members that were with the band and are part of the core lineup that fans think of when pining for the band’s glory days. Guns N’ Roses is a prime example of this. Three out of five members of the band is only a 60% reunion!

There is news circulating that the Smashing Pumpkins are planning a reunion tour, but, it appears that they are going to do it without their original bassist, D’arcy Wretzky. That’s close to being a reunion, but not quite. It’s only 75% of the original band. That’s not cool. Not cool at all. There are a lot of fans that aren’t too happy about her being excluded from the tour.

Wretzky told Blast Echo (in an article that she has since asked them to take down) that she isn’t slated to be a part of the reunion. My apologies to all of the Smashing Pumpkins fans out there who are excited about this oncoming reunion tour of the original members of the band. I know this is a huge disappointment for me, as well, but it’s not going to happen [with me]. I only just found about yesterday that the band has decided to go with a different bass player.”

Was D’arcy Originally Told She Was To Be Touring With SP?

In a strange Facebook post, a fan asked Wretzky if she was originally told that she would be part of the tour, she said that she was “was ‘sposed to” be part of the tour. She also posted “I haven’t been on FB since- oh! i’m pretty sure i know who did crazy somewone IS hacking my phone&/or fb account.”

None of the other three original members of the Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlain, James Iha) has said anything about this issue, yet. Recently, the three amigos have been seen getting promo photographs taken at a recording studio in Los Angeles. That sounds like they aren’t planning on having Wretzky join them for the summer tour; And, it sounds like they haven’t decided on a bass player, yet. Wretzky left the Smashing Pumpkins in 1999 and was replaced by HOLE bassist, Melissa Auf der Maur. She fit in well with the band, but fans of the band missed Wretzky, and they still do.

Don’t be a douche, Billy Corgan, the fans want D’arcy Wretzky in the band for the reunion tour. Don’t disappoint all your fans… again.
